We could be legion

I have to admit that I was disappointed when CCP announced that Dust 514 was only going to be out on Playstation, but wither the decision was made to avoid sapping the Eve Online player base or due to an exclusive deal with Sony, the choice looks to have been the wrong one with reports of the game being overall poor.

And now out of Fanfest comes news of Legion, a First Person Shooter MMO with Player versus Player and Environmental components. This is going to be target the PC platform, but CCP haven’t ruled out a PS4 release but I don’t think it’s high on the cards.

Initially I thought the game will go head to head with SoEs Planetside 2 title yet given the PvE elements it maybe more like Defiance and FireFall.
Interestingly the original Planetside game was going to have PvE and a mission system build into it, but sadly they never made the final version.

The experiences in making Dust have allowed CCP to expand on the idea making it bigger and more involved. This will hopefully allow for a greater interaction with the whole Eve Universe and enable more direct control of planets/systems.

Now all it needs is to allow you to move your character seamlessly between Legion and Eve and Dok Chaos will never have to log out.

    Fixed for correctness.

  2. Actually, I see it more as an FPS version of EVE, with primarily PvE content for the new players in safer (high-sec) zones, and a more PvP game developing the deeper in you go (low-sec). I wonder if it’ll have the same sort of economic gameplay as EVE?

  3. Been watching a few fan-fest YouTube videos, and wow they are really going for graphics, it looks ridiculously good. I don’t really have any points of views from what you just said, cause this is not really my kinda game 🙂 Only thing I have picked up with Legion is an issue that people have complained about and that’s the dropsuits.

They will become free. Before the good and best suits costs a lot of money, but now they might become free then there wont be a point for people to use lower level dropsuits, as they did in Dust ,Lowerlvl suits will then be useless later on ? So in the end, everyone will run with the same suit, everyone will look the same, and the cool suits wont be special anymore. That kinda sucks, as in all game, we all look the same.

Was a bit offtopic but ey 😛 Hi Welsh!

  4. Hello!
Yes hopefully as this is CPPs second venture into the Free to Play shoot market, the mistakes of Dust will be taking into consideration.
The divide between non-paying and paying players shouldn’t be a vast and only really benefit in small amounts.
