Pre-gig Excitement
Giving the gift of live music to the youngling
I enjoy live music, each performance always brings a wonderful energy with it. However there is something magically about seeing an artist performing songs you know, with a fire and passion that elivates a gig from good into an amazing gig.
The first concert I attended was huge as I got to see Bon Jovi on the Keep the Faith tour in 1993 at Wembley Arena. I was a big Bon Jovi fan this was a super treat, Me, My father, my cousin and my friend (who had been the one to introduce me to the band 3 years earlier) were in attendance. It was everything I wanted it to be and I was truly amazed and I still remember parts of the show to this day.
We were living in France at the time and had come back to the UK to visit family in Wales and for the gig, which we had booked over the phone from France when the tickets had gone on sale.
The gig was the night before we travelled back to France but as my cousin and friend were joining us we had to drive to London from Wales, attend the gig then travel back to Wales so they could go home, then the following day Dad drove the family back to the Airport in London. It was planned carefully and to save some time we took lungage to the airport on the way to the gig and stored it at the airport to help speed things along.
I wouldn't attend another gig for 2 years which was after I had moved back the UK for my studies.
I randomly got offered a spare ticket someone had to see Terrorvision. Later that same year 2 of my friends and I took a road trip to Nottingham to see Primus with Korn supporting (just before their first album dropped) this gig would be the catalyst for me attending all the gigs I could.
Passing on a torch
In October this year I get to take Little Troll (not so little now) to his first proper gig. Being a big fan of electro swing, when I spotted the tickets for Caravan Palace go on sale I decided it would be a good sized gig to start with so purchased them.
Little Troll can be noise sensitive sometimes so we are planning out some ear defender options as bands with brass sections could become a little loud at times. Even though we could drive to the gig and back I think we will grab a hotel room to mark the occasion a bit more.
Honestly not sure who is more excited me or Little Troll.
